idk a progressive rock album in 2012 is pretty freakin cool and i rly liked his Classical Aqualung set but its probably gonna suck bcause nostalgia, and time, and the passage thereof. oh well.

In that experimental acid rock genre there was a lot better stuff, give captain beyond a listen sometime. of course dont forget about pink floyd.

they werent experimental acid rock even remotely they were a blues band that made prog rock and then distinctly british folk rock which was otherwise completely unknown in the states.

pink floyd and jethro tull seriously have nothing in common lol. theyre both good bands even tho i think the first is overrated in its early years and underrated in its later.

pink floyd sucked after roger waters left.. their very early stuff just sounds like a normal band for the most part except for occasional beatles-esque psychedelica thrown in...
Piper at the gates of dawn - meh, good
saucer full of secrets - getting better
Meddle - love the opening song and the ending song, but the middle three songs are evidence that floyd hasn't found their sound quite yet
Dark Side of the Moon - HOLY FUCKING SHIT OMFG I'M CUMMING THIS ALBUM IS SO FUCKING AWESOME
Wish you were here - AND I THOUGHT IT COULDNT GET ANY FUCKING BETTER THAN DARK SIDE OF THE MOON OH MY FUCKING GOD
Animals - huh? well these tracks are good i guess, but not mindblowing, guess my expectations were too high
The Wall - OH MY FUCKING GOD HOLY FUCKING SHIT THIS IS AWESOME
Final Cut - Wtf? this isn't even an album..
Everything else - craaaaaap

all the stuff with syd barrett is some of the most drug-influenced music i've ever heard,
he must have been perpetually overdosing on acid during the years he was in pink floyd

two suns in the sunset off of final cut was amazing. you're right about the rest of the album though. also, I agree with you not including atom heart mother because the less said about that album the better.

i didn't like it that much
The lyrics of the first half of Dogs sound like they were written by a 14 year old poet
Pigs is good, but not great
Sheep is definitely the best song on the album - and then its over. Wow 4 songs, only one of them I'd deem "great pink floyd"

On The Wall you have stellar songs like Hey You, Comfortably Numb, In the Flesh, Another Brick in the Wall pt. 2, etc etc
The Wall is just so epic and Animals feels like it doesn't have enough diversity in the songs

maks

the wall's biggest problem is its popularity, I'm sure I'd appreciate comfortably numb more if I hadn't heard it twice a day for 10 years on the radio at my old job

don't listen to the radio if you don't want songs being ruined for you
this is 2012, there should never be a need to turn your radio/tv on ever
