I'm ognna fucking pray there's a better solution I gave my friend my old one minus the hard drive and just installed the drivers on here now that seriously cannot be the only way if it is I"m never ever buying windows again I will torrent windows 9 and seed it forever and I have extremely fast internet so I'll seed at least 50,000 copies of it too at launch alone and I will literally murder bill gates irl I'm so pissed

if that doesn't work, then get a real version of windows like 7 or xp

or if you have to have windows 8 (lol) then you'll have to do all this:
1) make an image of your hard drive with old windows installation

2) reinstall windows on that drive

3) merge the image of your old installation with your new installation

it's not supposed to happen with windows xp, and it didn't for me when i transferred a winxp drive to a new box
supposedly it will still happen with windows 7 since that OS actually links itself to your motherboard but apparently it doesn't always happen...

when windows 8 tells you the key has already been used -- does it or does it not give you the option to enter a new key?

did you steal windows 8 or actually buy it? if you bought it call the mcrosoft activation hotline and tell them you had to buy a new motherboard and you want them to make your copy of widows work on the new one

spend some time reading at microsoft's answers site. OEM dics are good for one pc/tethered to the mb cpu

The upgrade disc's offer a few work-a-rounds dependent of a legit copy of win2k, xp or vista
