My mom is a civilian employee that works for the NYPD. She works with many of the police officers who volunteered for the World Trade Center cleanup.
I was arrested in sent to county jail due to a disturbance from a woman who was gender harassing me in Southern Oregon. I just started living as Melissa, was drunk, with much psychological impairment, and could not handle the situation with any restraint. No one got hurt. This is the only criminal history I have ever had.
Thankfully, the jail was designed as one big lockdown at the time. I am also thankful now I did not look passable, never mind attractive at the time I was arrested. I did not look anything like the picture in my profile taken a year and a half ago.
All this and the lack of familiarity with transsexuals in that part of the state was what saved me from such a fate.
I am currently living with my boyfriend for five and a half years and should be starting school soon now that I am in the Portland Metro Area. Thankfully, I am in a position that I do not have to worry about that happening again and having something awful happen to me.
I have so much respect for you by coming in hear on your own personal recognizance. This is the first time any Criminal Justice personnel or student has come to a site and done this that I have seen.
I wish you the best on your career and hope you never have to deal with this situation.
