Reason:
BRENDA JOYCE WILSON (NEE SLOAN) (AKA LILY SLOAN) May 10, 1956 - June 4, 2021
Brenda was diagnosed with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) on February 4, 1992. She received palliative care at home, suffering from dementia and depression and died on Friday, June 4, 2021 after a short stay in palliative care at Evanstown Hospice. In keeping with her need to control all aspects of her life (and death), she has written her own obituary (with the help of her lawyer) – I was born in a car in Lee's Lick, Kentucky, on May 10, 1956, the third girl in a row to a catastrophically dysfunctional family of four children (thanks to Dr. Howard Eisenberg for helping me learn that there is a lot more to life than being depressed all the time). Earned my high school diploma and a certificate in horticulture in 1976 at Evanstown Community College. Met and married the love of my life in 1978 with whom I moved to Michigan in 1971. He left me in 1986 but gave me my beautiful daughter Crysta in 1980 who was tragically taken from me in 2012.
A word to my good friend Kent Jacina: Thank you for your love and friendship. It meant the world to me that you took the time to get to know me for who I was. I will forever be your friend. A lover of children, I supported a young man while he was homeless. This act of kindness was never repaid in kind, but I forgave him long ago and hope he learns to appreciate our connection. Avid supporter of internet forums since the dawn of the internet; however, I never could stomach the drama this caused. I ran two internet forums, my pride and joy to the end of my life.
Enjoyed cooking, watching television, swimming in my pool and playing with my dog Chlupa, who will now have a good life with my sister in my absense.
Thanks to Sam and Gloria for visiting me and helping me with day to day tasks. The conversations and companionship made a difference.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a Celebration of Life will not be held until the pandemic is over and large gatherings are allowed. Please go to her memorial page at http://supermensa.org/ and leave us your email address so we can let you know when and where her memorial will take place. In lieu of flowers, donations in her name can be made to the International Centre for Missing & Exploited Children https://icmec.org
